Movie Synopsis: This tense urban drama stars Nicolas Cage as Frank Pierce, a paramedic on the brink of physical and emotional collapse. Frank has worked for years in one of New York’s most brutal neighborhoods, and the pressure of his job has taken its toll; plagued with self-doubt, he is haunted by the spirits of the people he couldn't save, and while he desperately wants to quit his job, outside forces won't let him walk away. Personal View: Now that I have seen it, I give it a 9.5 out of 10. I know it is bad to set this kind of precedent right away, but this movie deserves it. This movie is possibly the greatest auteur film I have ever seen. Scorsese did a wonderful job piecing this film together. It kept me enthralled for every second of the movie. What Scorsese has learned to do with maturity is use fairly radical techniques in classy and necessary ways. He used some fast-motion photography which I normally think looks silly, but it really helped bring out some of the key feelings this film produces. I also would like to comment on Nicholas Cage's acting. In the past I did not think of Cage as a good actor but this movie made me do a 180. He did a great job and was perfect for the part. So I would just like to make sure that anyone who is reading this goes and sees the film. If not today, sometime soon and on the big screen. I think it will lose some of its magic when it hits video. GO have fun.
